Timeless and rusti rug made from 100% hemp. Sumak hemp rug is 170x240cm and is perfect to use in the living room, bedroom or kitchen. The rugs are dyed with 100% natural azo-free dyes that are derived solely from plants.

The dyeing is done before the rug is woven together by hand according to ancient traditional techniques in India. The hand-woven rugs can therefore differ in both shape and color and deviate slightly from the pictures.

Our hemp rugs are made by hand by talented craftsmen in India where they have long traditions and skills in rug weaving. The fiber is extracted from the outer part of the stem of the fast-growing hemp plant. It is a material known to be both dirt-repellent and durable. However, hemp fiber is sensitive to light, and it is good to know that the colour can fade over time if the rug is placed in direct sunlight.

Washing guidelines:

  • Vacuum regularly with care to keep clean.
  • Clean spills immediately so that they do not become set in the rug.
  • Remove spills immediately by blotting with a clean dry cloth.
  • Spot clean with cold water and mild soap.
  • Professional cleaning is recommended.

Care guidelines: 

  • Do not pull the loose ends if any. Trim with scissors.
  • Pile shredding is normal with natural fibers, this will reduce with time and usage.
  • Avoid direct & continuous exoposure to sunlight.
  • Rotate the rug regularly to avoid uneven wear and fading.
